Slade Preserve

Slade Preserve

Pound Ridge’s Town Government has been housed at 179 Westchester Avenue since the early 1970’s. Through the generosity of the late Mrs. C.F. Roe Slade and the C.F. Roe Slade Foundation, the town took ownership of the approximately 5500 square foot residence and surrounding properties and transformed the building into functioning offices. Mrs. Slade was adamant about preserving the 20 acres of land as a wildlife refuge. The town is required to keep the pond and brook free of pollution and in safe condition, protect the trees, repair and reinforce the banks or walls of the pond, repair the lock and bridge over the pond outlet, dredge and drain the pond, and repair and reinforce the stone walls.
