Pollinator Pathway

The Pound Ridge Pollinator Pathway
Pollinating insects are under threat from habitat loss and fragmentation, pesticide use and climate change. But you can make a difference by turning your yard into a welcoming environment for bees, butterflies and moths.

What is a Pollinator Pathway?   The Pollinator Pathway is an exciting, nationwide initiative to join yards, nature preserves, community gardens and woodlands into a contiguous “pathway” that provides nesting and foraging opportunities for pollinating insects.

Who can join? Whether you are a beginner gardener or already have a bee and butterfly-filled yard, we invite you to be part of the project, and we will put your property on the Pollinator Pathway Map.

What do you need to do?

  • Sign up for a free consultation by The Invasives Project – Pound Ridge (TIP – PR). Volunteers from TIP will walk your property with you to identify native and invasive species.
  • Add pollinator-friendly native plants, including trees and shrubs, to your garden or yard.
  • Reduce, or eliminate entirely, your use of pesticides.
  • Help us engage others by displaying a butterfly-logo decal in a prominent place to let your neighbors know that your property is “on the Pathway”.
